Formal Research Project
The Formal Research Project articulates the department's lines of research and its research projects, as well as their relationship with the department's educational and outreach functions. At the same time, it seeks to coordinate lines of research and research projects with other university departments from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The Formal Research Project (FRP) of the Department of Electronics, Systems and Informatics is aimed at developing technology that is relevant to the regional context, in the fields of electronics and information technologies. The issues addressed include:
- Sustainable competitiveness based on technological innovation with a high level of added value.
- Competitiveness based on technology management.
- Education-based competitiveness
On the basis of these issues, the following lines of generation and application of knowledge have been determined:
-
Design of electronic devices, circuits and systems.
The aim is to solve specific problems by creating and developing electronic technology. The objective is to generate knowledge and devise innovative contributions in the fields of analog electronics, digital and embedded systems, radiofrequency and microwaves, and computer-aided design (CAD) methods.
-
High-performance software.
This refers to the development of software systems that solve problems involving the adequate use of hardware resources, specifically the continuous and efficient, near-optimal, use of the processor, as well as the behavior of the software itself, which due to its characteristics could be classified as intelligent behavior. In other words, high-performance software means software that delivers accurate results within a computationally acceptable timeframe.
-
Innovation and technology management.
The issues addressed are: How can an organization achieve order, control and effective management of business processes at every level? How can it ensure the successful acquisition, implementation and use of information technologies? What are organizations' strategies for achieving sustainable competitiveness? And, how can an organization increase, enhance and develop its employees' competencies, its own capacities and those of its infrastructure?
