The Jesuits and architecture
Architecture is unique among the Fine Arts in that it has practical utility; it also has stories to tell about the Jesuit experience.
The Jesuit mark in downtown Guadalajara /
Downtown Guadalajara still retains some vestiges of the Jesuit presence, which goes back to the 16th century. Some of the City's most notable landmarks conserve these elements.
As part of the ITESO University Cultural Festival, Alfonso Alfaro and the Jesuit Arturo Reynoso led a tour of different architectural spaces that reveal a Jesuit past, such as the Franciscan Church of Aranzazú, the College of St. Thomas (currently the Octavio Paz Iberoamerican Library), the Church of St. Philip Neri and the façade of the Church of St. Monica.
